Assignment Numero Uno

This is a quote from "The Ethics of Living Jim Crow" written by Richard Wright, he stated, "But the mere idea of what would happen to me if Pease and Morrie should learn that I had "snitched" stopped me. And after all, the boss was a white man too. What was the use?" (pg XVI or 26) This quote really made me think that society has basically told him that he could not trust not one white man no matter who he was. This proves that the Jim Crows did more than segregate the two races, but instead it put up a psychological barrier stating that he would be unable to trust someone based on their color of their skin and it tells most people that segregation is the wrong thing to do and that it will not allow anyone to truly see the world in the way it should be.

I liked how you said that there was more to the Jim Crow laws than just segregating the two races. I liked how you stated that it changed people's mindset and though process about the two races. I think that it was an important factor to add the "psycological barrier."
