My Story+Uncle Toms Children+The Sky is Gary=Connections

I was ask to make a connection to one of the readings with my own personal story. This i find hard.How do I make a connection between my personal story and a racial incident? Then again the characters we discussed about were viewed the same way I felt i was. The incident that occurred with the teacher and I, was similar to the characters in the readings. As i try to connect with the readings, I most connected with The sky is Gray and Uncle Toms children. Both characters that shared some similarities with me were viewed, as not knowledgeable or crazy for speaking up on their feelings. In Uncle Toms children,Richard was viewed as weak and not capable to learn just because of who he is. When he worked hard and was enthusiastic to learn and be around those he felt like and care for me. I felt the same as Richard. I believed my Spanish teacher, was there for me and believed in me and capabilities and what I could of contribute to traveling aboard. As Richard wanted to learn while working I as well wanted to learn about Spain while others saw it more as a vacation. In The sky is gray, the young boy in the dentist office who was very outspoken and opinionated, reminds me of myself. As he spoke his mind many underestimated him and his opinions and believed he spoke all those words because of his anger, and he simply explained he felt cheated and will continue to always question things until there is a change. I agree i will always question my schools decisions along with my teachers and will continue to be opinionated towards everything that is going on around me. Just like the young boy in The sky is gray and that is why i admire him and his outspoken ways. Because I will continue to be me Ronnae and I wont change not for anyone.
