Tonight's assignment, and the final letter to the future President

Dear Scholars,
Your assignment for tonight is to look back at some of the problems/conflicts you addressed in your posts from last night, and to compose a new post which challenges the future President of the United States to address those problems and find ways to solve them. You must make suggestions about how the President might go about solving these issues. This will require a great amount of creativity on your part, which is a crucial element in persuasive college writing. In some cases, you may be suggesting solutions that have never before been attempted in U.S. history. We encourage you to be as innovative, thoughtful, and excellent as possible. This is your time to shine, and show us what you envision for a better America.


For your final assignment, you will need to write a two page (min.) letter to the future President of the United States. You will need to combine the post from last night, discussing the differences and similarities in the racial/ethnic/class conflicts from the Civil Rights era to your experiences in modern day America, and challenging the President to focus ways to solve those problems/conflicts in the future. This last part will be pulled directly from your posts for tonight.

Leslie and I will be holding one-on-one conferences with each of you tomorrow evening so that we can help you to organize your final drafts. Be creative. Be bold. Be excellent.
