Welcome to the Blog!

Dear Scholars,
Welcome to our blog! This is a space for built exclusively for you to record your thoughts and responses to the readings, conversations and other posts that we encounter this week. We encourage you to go beyond your daily posts and read other scholars' responses, actively engaging and questioning each other, so that you make the most of this experience, and come away with a variety of perspectives on civil rights during the black freedom movement and now.

So for your first assignment, we asked you to post any passages or quotations that struck you in the Richard Wright and Ernest Gaines readings. Please post those passages/quotations into your post, and write a brief response to them, explaining why you chose them, why you think they are important, or if something puzzles you, raise questions about it.

Thanks, and I look forward to reading and responding to your work!
