Cultural Differences
Manuel ParedesI have witnessed a lot of racism during my life but not personally until I was in middle school. During middle school I went Ditmas IS62 in Brooklyn. This school was broken up into four different institutes, IMS, LCS, SES, and APVA. IMS represented International Middle School, SES represented Studies for Environmental Science, LCS represented the school of Law and Community Service, and APVA represented the school of Academic Performance and Visual Arts. Nobody messed with APVA because of their “talents” they were considered immaculate. LCS was highly respectable for their studies on law. SES was considered as the outlaws of the school because whenever trouble appeared so did the students from SES. IMS was considered as the “goodie two shoes.” But the only problem was that IMS was a school just for students who arrived from another country. People were quick to assume that all of the students were immigrants, but this was not true because almost everyone was born in the U.S. For SES this did not matter they just assumed that all of us were immigrants. This is where the problems started to arise. The students from the institutes began to argue and this led to fights. Both of these institutes were in multiple brawls just because of cultural differences until one day a program was set up. It was CAMBA. This program placed students together from both institutes to talk about the disputes and how to resolve them. Everyone from both institutes had to go even the ones that who were not involved. The students sat on different sides of the room. SES students sat on one and IMS students sat on the other. Throughout this time the SES students made names like IMS meant I’m stupid. Finally there was a team effort in which both institutes had to unite. When this happened people were discouraged but finally were able to work together. This destroyed any differences and made some great friendships. A year later the principal changed the name of the school. It became to GSI which represented Global Studies Institute. Another year later after my graduation GSI and SES was no more these institutes united and became BFT, The School of Business, Finance and Technology.

Wow that was messed up wat happened. Wats wrong with people these days.
People make no sense and like getting into arguments or just like getting in trouble. I mean my school loves getting rumbles with other schools in the building just to show how "hard" we are...
Fights aren't necessary and I believe that if people come closer together the world would be a much better place. Most of these fights are ussually based on society and cultures. The society they live in can influence the problems between them.
