Dear people who don't know me,
You say I look American because of my complexion. Yes, I have light skin and light eyes but that doesn't mean I am from here. I do not consider myself American because I was born in Mexico. You might think that I am American, Italian, or another race but that doesn't matter because I have Mexican blood in my veins. That's something I am not going to reject. It's who I am and it's my culture. Everyone looks different and you shouldn't assume things you don't know. It's better to ask me than to rely on what others tell you. I'd rather tell you where I am from than have you observe me to try and guess. You might think how can you not consider yourself American when you live here? I do live here but my parents have taught me not to forget my traditions and I live with them so I also follow them; this includes eating the food and speaking Spanish.

That's a very strong letter! i HATE IT TOO when people make assumptions about my culture and race. Im so proud of you that you hold your culture.
I also hate it when people think I'm indian and stuff just because of how I look. I still hold on to my culture and I proud that you also hold on to yours
Yeah I understand what you say. People have percieved me as a kid from India or a Native American. Although I was born here I really don't care I too also value my Mexican tradition. Just like your parents my family have raised me to hold these traditions. I also speak a lot of spanish at home and I also eat my traditonal food. So its cool. Keep the Mexican tradition real, keep your head up and show your heritage.

Yeah, I already admitted that I thought you were Italian or something, I felt guilty afterward. It's something that you have to live with, you shouldn't let it get to you. Then again, I am sure you make wrong assumptions as well, therefore next time you start to make an assumption think of yourself and how you feel like when people assume things about you ;).
