Hard Times

"You better be glad you got syrup. Some people ain't got that -- hard as time is"(Ernest J. Gaines 88).
When will times ever be easy or bearable. People complained about hard times back then (they truly were hard ) and they are still complaining now. I think difficulty is a part of life. Sometimes life will be good for someone on the east side of the country and be terrible for someone on the west side of the country. Also, sometimes people say we have to just "deal" with the hard times . But, if the people around the time of the Jim Crow had "dealt" with the problems, we would not have the right that we do today. They dealt with their problems in an active way that showed that they knew they weren't being treated fairly.

kristina i feel that you are right but also i feel that people do have to face the hard times in order to get to the good times thats why people obeyed what they was told for so long and dealing with the pain in hardships to make a better life for the the ones that came after them like us.

I agree with what you say also because they want to complain for freedom and equality but they are appreciative for what they have and would not really complain because they think they are asking for too much. Complaining is better then violence because if you complain one can become submisive and give in but with violence only retaliation and conflicts will occur instead of recieving an answer.
